Information You Submit
Search terms
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Coles County Recent Arrests does not store or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages
If you send an email or contact-form message, we retain it as needed to answer. We do not share the message outside our organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Automatic Technical Data
Routine logs may record basic data when a page loads:
- Internet Protocol address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and time spent on them.
- The referring site, when supplied.
- Date and time stamps.
Cookies
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site. Browser controls can block or remove them, though some site functions may then work differently.
How Data Is Used
Collected data supports ordinary site operation and service delivery.
- Keep pages available and responsive.
- Send a search request to the selected partner.
- Measure which pages help readers.
- Find and repair technical faults.

Outside Websites and Advertising
Links may lead to Coles County jail reports, booking resources, sheriff and corrections pages, government portals, or third-party search tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy terms apply.
Advertising partners may use their own technology to follow activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs on their systems, not ours.
Limited Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available only to parties needed for these functions:
- Search partners that process a submitted query.
- Analytics providers that measure site use.
- Advertising networks that deliver ads.
- Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order.
Security Practices
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used to protect information. No internet service is fully secure, however, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian may use the Contact Us page to request deletion if a minor submitted information.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the request, a user may:
- Ask for a copy of personal data we hold.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Ask that eligible information be erased.
- Object to or opt out of certain processing.
These rights concern data held by this site. Illinois Freedom of Information Act records, including material disclosed under 5 ILCS 140/2.15, remain under the control of the public agency that created them.

We may revise this privacy notice as practices or legal duties change. A revision takes effect when posted here with a new effective date.
